Volleyball Recap: Evergreen Cougars vs. Monarch Coyotes

Evergreen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Monarch Coyotes. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Coyotes 25-16 in the first set.

Evergreen started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-10, 25-8, 25-23.

Monarch found their leader in underclassman Maya Singh, who had 19 digs. Singh is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Evergreen's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Monarch, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Denver North the next time they take the court. Evergreen will head out to face Denver North at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Monarch will play them later in the day, at 8:30 a.m.
