Volleyball Recap: Heritage Eagles vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles
It was a Battle of the Birds when Heritage challenged Mountain Vista on Saturday. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in October.
Heritage started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.
Madeline Pyne paced Heritage's offense, picking up ten kills. Pyne got some help from Maddy Davis and her 24 assists. Finally, Hailey Hinrichsen kept Heritage's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Mountain Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brie Bowyer, who had five digs and four aces. What's more, Bowyer racked up 18 assists, the most she's had since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Posada, who had 15 digs and two aces.
Heritage dropped their record down to 14-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Mountain Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
