Basketball Recap: Ian Francis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Germantown Christian over Grand Lake Christian

Germantown Christian saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 48-37 to the Grand Lake Christian Eagles.

Germantown Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ian Francis, who posted ten points and five steals. Francis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Paxton Scott was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Germantown Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Germantown Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Grand Lake Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Germantown Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-55 win against Tournament Opponent on the 21st. As for Grand Lake Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Harvest Temple Christian Academy at 8:30 p.m. on January 24, 2025.
