Baseball Preview: Douglas Tigers vs. Spanish Springs Cougars
The Douglas Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Spanish Springs Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Douglas will be strutting in after a win while Spanish Springs will be coming in after a defeat.
Douglas barely beat Reed the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Raiders on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Grayson Kamper tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Douglas got a big performance out of Luke Main, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Main has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Jeffrey Peters was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Douglas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reed only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, Spanish Springs fell victim to Bishop Manogue and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Miners. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Miners recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Spanish Springs' loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Douglas, their record is now 8-10.
Douglas couldn't quite get it done against Spanish Springs when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
