Baseball Recap: East Wilkes Cardinals vs. Mount Airy Granite Bears
East Wilkes lost against Mount Airy back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Wilkes Cardinals fell 10-5 to the Mount Airy Granite Bears.
Elijah Johnson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ayden Guessford was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Praden Hatley, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
East Wilkes' record now sits at 1-1. As for Mount Airy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
