Soccer Game Preview: Carlsbad vs. Torrey Pines

The Carlsbad Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Torrey Pines Falcons at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Carlsbad's last eight matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Carlsbad and San Dieguito Academy finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Torrey Pines made sure to put some goals up on the board against Westview on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 4-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Torrey Pines' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Westview are ranked 281st).

The victory made it two in a row for Torrey Pines and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. Carlsbad's draw makes their record 3-4-3 this season.

Carlsbad might still be hurting after the 8-3 loss they got from Torrey Pines in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
