Basketball Recap: Normal West Takes a Loss

Normal West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 68-37 loss at the hands of the Normal Community Ironmen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ironmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-55 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Normal West still got an impressive performance from Michael Zaleski, who posted 14 points. What's more, Zaleski also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Maliq Givens-Smith was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Normal West's defeat dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Normal Community, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-6.

While Normal West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
