Basketball Game Preview: Van Nuys Wolves vs. Sylmar Spartans

The Van Nuys Wolves will take on the Sylmar Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Van Nuys came up short against Reseda and fell 84-74. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (65), the Wolves still had to take the loss.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jeremy Rivas, who posted 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Tu, who put up 22 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sylmar). They breezed by Panorama to the tune of 80-41 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted since January 24, 2024.

Van Nuys' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-8. As for Sylmar, their win bumped their record up to 6-16.

Van Nuys came up short against Sylmar when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 70-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sylmar's Tim Tanner, who went 9 of 20 en route to 28 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
