Softball Recap: Urbana Triumphs

Urbana's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Triad Cardinals by a score of 10-6. This was a revenge game for the Hillclimbers: when they faced off against the Cardinals on Saturday, they had to take a 13-3 defeat.

Isla Wooten made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Wooten was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Urbana got a massive performance out of Bailey Smith, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-5. Morgan Boyd was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Urbana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triad only posted a batting average of .222.

The win got Urbana back to even at 1-1. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Coincidentally, Urbana and Triad will both be playing Springfield the next time they take the field. Urbana will host Springfield at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Triad will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
