Volleyball Recap: Ethan Poquette and Cody Lawton Secure Win for Cabrillo

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Ynez, Cabrillo was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Mission College Prep Royals as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Conquistadores in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won four in a row.

Cabrillo was especially dominant in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-14.

Cabrillo was led to victory by Cody Lawton and Ethan Poquette. Lawton had 33 assists and three aces, while Poquette had seven digs and seven aces. Lawton has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last eight times he's played.

They weren't the only good server: Cabrillo was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They are 6-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Cabrillo's record is now 11-8. As for Mission College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-22.

Cabrillo has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Lompoc on the 15th. Mission College Prep has also already played their next contest (against Nipomo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
