Versailles is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will head out to take on the Parkway Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Versailles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Parkway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Versailles' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Russia as they made off with a 7-0 victory.

Ross Francis and Ian Bergman made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Francis didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bergman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Francis scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bergman scored a run while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Francis snagged this season.
In other batting news, Jace Watren was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Matt Subler also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Parkway sidestepped Allen East for a 5-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Perry Schwieterman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xavier Samples, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braedn Conn, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
The victory got Versailles back to even at 2-2. As for Parkway, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Versailles took their win against Parkway when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
