Basketball Recap: Yukon's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

After losing to El Reno the last time they met, Yukon decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Yukon Millers secured a 52-48 W over the El Reno Indians on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Millers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Indians are ranked 37th).

Yukon had a senior duo take command as Ashley Cox went 6 for 7 en route to 19 points and Kalli Harbeson went 5 of 8 on her way to 15 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Cox. Another player making a difference was Addison Pivniska, who posted eight points.

The victory was the third in a row for Yukon, bringing their record for this year to 10-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for El Reno, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 40 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 12-1 record.

When Yukon and El Reno next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Yukon will challenge Coweta and their eight-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Yukon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. Similarly, El Reno will try to stop Carl Albert's five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
