Baseball Recap: Mentor Falls Short of St. Edward in the Playoffs

Mentor and St. Edward squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Mentor had to settle for second. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Mentor got a good showing from Jacob Gunvelson, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gunvelson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tyson Cendrowski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

The defeat snapped Mentor's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 20-6 record. As for St. Edward, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-11.

As of now, neither Mentor nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
