Baseball Recap: Sabetha Drops Highest Score of Season Against St. Marys

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clay Center, Sabetha was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the St. Marys Bears. The Bluejays' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ike Tramp was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Tramp was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Sabetha got a massive performance out of Reid Mitchell, who scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Mitchell also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Collin Montgomery, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Sabetha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Marys only managed five hits.

Sabetha's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for St. Marys, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bears beat Sabetha by a score of 7-2 later that day.
