Softball Recap: Rancocas Valley Find Success

After losing to Hammonton the last time they met, Rancocas Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Red Devils came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 4-1 on Friday. The game was the first time the Red Devils have beaten the Blue Devils on their field since April 18, 2015.

Gianna Simone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cayla Myers and Noelle Bocchino did most of the damage at the plate: Myers went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Bocchino went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Bocchino's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Doppler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rancocas Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Rancocas Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Hammonton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancocas Valley will square off against Northern Burlington on Saturday. As for Hammonton, they will face off against Southern Regional on Saturday.
