Basketball Recap: Waltrip Comes Up Short

After flying high against Milby last Wednesday, Waltrip came back down to earth. The Waltrip Rams lost to the Spring Woods Tigers at home by a 67-50 margin on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring Woods to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavionn Pickens, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds gave Pickens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trae Pickens, who went 9 of 17 en route to 19 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Waltrip's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Spring Woods, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sharpstown the next time they take the court. Spring Woods will host Sharpstown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Waltrip will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on January 18th.
