The Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks will square off against the Canon City Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cheyenne Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Cheyenne Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Falcon, who was ranked 20th at the time (Cheyenne Mountain was ranked 19th). The Red-Tailed Hawks fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 8-7 on Friday.
Nate Glad made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jansen Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Canon City waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Terrors by a score of 6-3.
John Vendetti looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Tanner Leonard was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eric Chavez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Canon City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4-1.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cheyenne Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Canon City struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cheyenne Mountain skirted past Canon City 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Red-Tailed Hawks repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
