Baseball Game Preview: Indian River Braves vs. Salem Sundevils

Indian River is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Salem a six-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Indian River Braves will be playing at home against the Salem Sundevils at 12:00 p.m. Neither Indian River nor Salem posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Tuesday, Indian River came up short against Hickory and fell 7-2.

Indian River got a good showing from Dillon Price, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Price has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Ming made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Indian River: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-13 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Salem fell victim to Kempsville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to the Chiefs.

Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Indian River, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Indian River skirted past Salem 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2017. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sundevils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
