Baseball Game Preview: Palmyra Panthers vs. Ewing Blue Devils

The Palmyra Panthers will head out to challenge the Ewing Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Palmyra is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

On Thursday, Palmyra sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Riverside.

Ian Smith was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Palmyra's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Ewing came up short against Hightstown on Friday and fell 4-1. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Palmyra pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ewing, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Ewing's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Palmyra has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game.
