Carmel has gone a perfect 4-0 against Greenfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Padres will take on the Bruins at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Carmel took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Pajaro Valley 25-4. The Padres' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Grace Grahl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Grahl was also big at the plate, earning three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Stephens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Lily Beals was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pajaro Valley only posted a batting average of .300.
Meanwhile, Greenfield got themselves on the board against Marina on Friday, but Marina never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Mariners. The win was familiar territory for the Bruins, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Like Carmel, Greenfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe Zavala. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Zavala has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Ashely Zavala was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Soto, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
Carmel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Greenfield, their record now sits at 9-13.
Everything went Carmel's way against Greenfield when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Carmel made off with a 15-3 win. Do the Padres have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
