Recap: Charlotte Orioles vs. Ionia Bulldogs
The Charlotte Orioles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 57-56 win over Ionia. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Charlotte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaelyn Baker, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Baker has scored at least 25% of Charlotte's points. Peyton Howarth was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Charlotte's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Ionia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte will take on Olivet at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Olivet is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Ionia, they will head out on the road to face off against Sexton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
