Vacaville Christian was dealt a 92-54 defeat at the hands of Woodland Christian. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 989th, while the Cardinals are ranked 485th).

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Golden Sierra ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over Highlands. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since December 12, 2024.

Vacaville Christian better focus on containing Gabe Brown-Aranda and Ethan Caruthers as the pair were huge in Golden Sierra's win. Brown-Aranda went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points and four steals, while Caruthers dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Brown-Aranda is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Cody Olsen, who posted five points and five assists.

The victory (which was Golden Sierra's third in a row) raised their record to 10-10. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Vacaville Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Vacaville Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Golden Sierra in their previous matchup on January 7th, winning 67-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vacaville Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
