Baseball Recap: Randolph's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Randolph dropped their record down to 8-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Frewsburg Bears. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in June of 2021.

As for Frewsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.

For Frewsburg's part, Aidan Gruber and Gavin Weaver made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Gruber kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Weaver pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gruber has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gruber went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Weaver went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Frewsburg got a big performance out of Chase Haglund, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Haglund has posted since back in April. Daniel Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As of now, neither Randolph nor Frewsburg have any future games scheduled.
