Recap: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Navajo Prep Eagles
The Newcomb Skyhawks fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Navajo Prep Eagles on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 38-36. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Newcomb's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mikal Ashley, who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Dion Lee, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Navajo Prep can attribute much of their success to Xavier Nez, who threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns. Khol Johnson was another key contributor, picking up 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Newcomb's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Navajo Prep, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Newcomb does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Navajo Prep also has no future games currently scheduled.
