Basketball Game Preview: Armstrong Trojans vs. Westville Tigers

Armstrong hasn't had much luck against Westville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Armstrong Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the Westville Tigers at 8:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Armstrong's tournament run continued when they took on Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Tuesday. Armstrong took their game with ease, bagging a 55-25 victory over Georgetown-Ridge Farm. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 708th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Westville came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Storm with points to spare, taking the game 53-39.

Westville is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Armstrong, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Armstrong came up short against Westville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 47-38. Can Armstrong avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
