Baseball Game Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Honey Grove Warriors

For the second straight game, Wolfe City will face off against Honey Grove. The Wolves will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Wolfe City has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Wolfe City heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Honey Grove by a score of 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost eight in a row.

For Honey Grove's part, they let Kendal Wolfe and Jarrmez Daniels run wild. Wolfe went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Daniels went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Daniels has posted since back in March.

Honey Grove has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Wolfe City, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wolfe City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Honey Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts.
