Volleyball Recap: Heritage Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Alvin Ella and Cole Fujinaga

Heritage and Irvington squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Heritage had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Heritage started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-15, 15-11.

Heritage's loss came despite strong showings from Cole Fujinaga and Alvin Ella. Fujinaga had 18 assists and six digs, while Ella had eight digs and one assist.

Heritage's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11. As for Irvington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-12.

Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Irvington, they will face off against Redwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Giants will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
