Basketball Recap: Effingham County Takes a Loss

Effingham County lost against Glynn Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The matchup between the Effingham County Rebels and the Glynn Academy Terrors didn't end well, with the Effingham County Rebels falling 56-41. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Terrors are ranked 115th).

Despite the loss, Effingham County still got an impressive performance from Nakera M Hawkins, who posted 15 points. Abbi Jones was another key player, putting up eight points.

Glynn Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyra L Page out in front who had 11 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. L Page is becoming a predictor of Glynn Academy's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Janiyah Spaulding, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Effingham County and nudges their season record down to 2-20. As for Glynn Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Effingham County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glynn Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-34 victory against Lakeside on the 12th.
