Recap: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Utica Redskins
The Zanesville Blue Devils were the 61-29 winner over the Utica Redskins when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Zanesville took a hard 56-37 fall against Utica on Friday. Zanesville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zanesville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lakeyah Butcher, who scored five points along with nine rebounds. Butcher set a new season high mark in steals with two. Another player making a difference was Amaya Seyfried, who scored five points.
Even though they lost, Zanesville were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Zanesville's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Utica, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Zanesville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Watkins Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on December 12th. As for Utica, they will play host again and welcome Heath, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heath's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so Utica's offense will have their work cut out for Utica.
