Baseball Recap: Everett Takes Down Windber in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Everett had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Windber Ramblers with a sharp 14-8 victory on Monday. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Owen Whitfield made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Whitfield was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Cody Spade was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Everett is undefeated when Spade posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Lane Whitfield was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

The win was the fourth in a row for Everett, bringing their record up to 10-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Windber, they moved to 11-10 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Everett nor the Ramblers have any future games scheduled.
