Baseball Recap: De La Salle Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

De La Salle waltzed into their matchup on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They never let the Jesuit Marauders get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Graham Schlicht, who gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Jesuit off the board. Schlicht has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Alec Blair was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Zach Tchejeyan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

De La Salle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.

De La Salle's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Jesuit, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.

De La Salle has already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Franklin on the 15th. As for Jesuit, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-4 victory against Faith Lutheran on the 14th.
