Softball Recap: Morgan County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Morgan County came into Monday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Buckhorn Wildcats on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-14 back in April.

Bralyne Carpenter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chloe Dye was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Mckenna Spencer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Morgan County's victory bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Buckhorn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan County will face off against Bath County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Buckhorn, they will square off against Cordia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
