Volleyball Game Preview: Peotone Blue Devils vs. Pontiac Indians

The Peotone Blue Devils will square off against the Pontiac Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Peotone took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Herscher by a score of 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

While Peotone won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Pontiac sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Prairie Central on Thursday.

In the two sets Pontiac was on fire: they won each by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-9, 25-13.

Pontiac found their leader in sophomore Izzy Hinz, who had 13 digs.

Peotone's victory bumped their record up to 20-13. As for Pontiac, their win bumped their record up to 26-8.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Peotone has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Pontiac struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Peotone skirted past Pontiac 2-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
