Preview: Ironwood Eagles vs. Centennial Coyotes
The Ironwood Eagles will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Centennial Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Ironwood is ranked 179th, while Centennial is ranked 175th).
Last Thursday, Ironwood was the victim of a rough 53-31 defeat at the hands of Paradise Valley. Ironwood has not had much luck with Paradise Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Centennial made off with a 38-37 win over Paradise Valley. The victory was just what Centennial needed coming off of a 64-26 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Akasha Prpich, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Prpich's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaleia Young, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Ironwood's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Ironwood was able to grind out a solid victory over Centennial when the teams last played back in November, winning 33-24. Will Ironwood repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
