Preview: Bear River Bears vs. Ridgeline Riverhawks
Bear River is 0-10 against Ridgeline since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bear River Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. Bear River is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Bear River suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 47-25 loss to Sky View might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bear River has suffered against Sky View since January 14, 2021.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shelby Wilkinson, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelie Delgado, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Ridgeline entered their tilt with Green Canyon with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Ridgeline simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Green Canyon 77-38 on the road. Ridgeline has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 26 points or more this season.
Ridgeline's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emilee Skinner, who scored 25 points along with three steals. Skinner has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Elise Livingston, who scored 19 points.
Bear River has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Ridgeline, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Bear River have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Ridgeline, though, as they've been averaging only 27.8 rebounds per game. Given Bear River's sizeable advantage in that area, Ridgeline will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bear River was dealt a bruising 74-38 defeat at the hands of Ridgeline in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bear River was down 46-17.
