Volleyball Recap: Franklin Community Comes Up Short

After flying high against Noblesville on Saturday, Franklin Community came back down to earth. The Grizzly Cubs came up short against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Grizzly Cubs have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 25-17.

Rose Mahin paced Franklin Community's offense, picking up 15 kills. Mahin got some help from Karlin Burton and her 31 assists.

Hamilton Southeastern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naomi Gerig, who had 17 digs and two assists. Those 17 digs gave Gerig a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Daniels, who had six digs and two aces.

Franklin Community's defeat dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season.

Franklin Community will face off against Danville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on the 7th.
