Softball Recap: Seton Catholic Beats Kalama for Their Sixth Straight Win

Seton Catholic waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Kalama Chinooks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 last Tuesday.

Jocelyn Kender was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kingsley Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Kenzie Kuhnhausen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Seton Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.

Seton Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kalama, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seton Catholic will take on Columbia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Bruins have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Kalama, they will square off against La Center at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
