Football Recap: Unioto Starts Season with Win Against Portsmouth

Unioto had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over the Portsmouth Trojans. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Shermans just coasted through the last quarter.

Cody Braden had a dynamite game, rushing for 92 yards and a pair of TDs. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Another player making a difference was Isaac Coy, who threw for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unioto will head out to face off against Vinton County at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Portsmouth, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Portsmouth West at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th.
