Basketball Recap: Berea-Midpark's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Berea-Midpark won the last time they faced Avon Lake and things went their way on Monday too. The Berea-Midpark Titans walked away with an 82-74 victory over the Avon Lake Shoremen. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Shoremen are ranked 579th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Berea-Midpark's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Reece led the charge by putting up 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Reece's evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Vincent Weaver, who went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points.

The win (which was Berea-Midpark's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6. As for Avon Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Coming up, Berea-Midpark won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Brookside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Berea-Midpark's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
