Baseball Game Preview: Hershey Trojans vs. Bishop McDevitt Crusaders

The Hershey Trojans will square off against the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Hershey came up short against Carlisle and fell 8-3.

Hershey got a good showing from Hudson Smith, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hershey saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Later, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Bennett Sheppard also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Bishop McDevitt's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Red Land by a score of 9-7.

Bishop McDevitt also got a good showing from Kayden Gelbaugh, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Calvin Snyder was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jett Daugherty, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Hershey's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Bishop McDevitt, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Hershey skirted past Bishop McDevitt 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
