Baseball Game Preview: Cortez Colts vs. Dysart Demons

For the second straight game, Cortez will face off against Dysart. The Colts will challenge the Demons at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Cortez has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Dysart will come in with four straight victories.

Dysart hit Cortez with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Colts came up short against the Demons, falling 11-1.

For Dysart's part, Juan Anaya spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Anaya has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dysart got a big performance out of Eduardo Carranza, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Carranza has become a key player for the Demons: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Stephen Rivera also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Dysart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dysart now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18-1.
