Preview: Catasauqua Rough Riders vs. Williams Valley Vikings
The Catasauqua Rough Riders will head out on the road to face off against the Williams Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Catasauqua comes in on three and Williams Valley on five.
Catasauqua can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Salisbury Township 35-14. Catasauqua pushed the score to 35-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Salisbury Township cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Catasauqua to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Reitz, who rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Catasauqua also got help from Rodney Brodie who showed off his sure hands for 107 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Williams Valley stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Tri-Valley at home to the tune of 49-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
It was another big night for Alex Achenbach, who rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Achenbach is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last ten games he's played. Brady Shomper was another key contributor, throwing for 86 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes.
Catasauqua's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Williams Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
