Baseball Recap: Monsignor Pace Extends Winning Streak to Three

Monsignor Pace waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Dr. Krop Lightning with a sharp 16-4 win. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Monsignor Pace got a great performance from Aiden Rivero as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Rivero a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Robert Kramer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Andres Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Monsignor Pace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Monsignor Pace's record now sits at 13-7. As for Dr. Krop, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monsignor Pace will host Somerset Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Dr. Krop, they will square off against Mater Lakes Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Lightning's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
