Football Game Preview: Steele Knights vs. Laredo LBJ Wolves

The Steele Knights will take on the Laredo LBJ Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Steele is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Last Thursday, Steele was fully in charge, breezing past Johnson 42-7. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

DJ Green had a dynamite game, throwing for 270 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jamin Harvell was Green's top target, picking up 116 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Laredo LBJ hadn't done well against United South recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolves came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 21-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wolves' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 368th, while the Panthers are ranked 740th).

Steele better keep an eye on Mauricio Lopez. He was instrumental in Laredo LBJ's win, rushing for 91 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Lopez's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Steele's record is now 9-1. As for Laredo LBJ, their record now sits at 7-3.
