Baseball Recap: Eustis Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Eustis's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tavares Bulldogs a 13-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-2 back in February.

Caden Canada tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Eustis got a massive performance out of Braeden Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Barnes has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryder Newman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Eustis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tavares only posted an OBP of .400.

The victory snapped Eustis' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-8 record. As for Tavares, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Eustis will welcome South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tavares, they are taking a road trip to square off against Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
