Baseball Recap: Elko's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Elko came into Saturday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Bonanza Bengals by a score of 6-3 on Saturday. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Armando Acosta was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Acosta was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coy Jones, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Javi Robles, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Elko was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Elko's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Bonanza, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Elko wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-5 victory against South Tahoe on the 6th. As for Bonanza, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-1 loss against Rancho on the 4th.
