Volleyball Preview: Alexander Spartans vs. Meigs Marauders
Alexander has gone 9-1 against Meigs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Alexander Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Meigs Marauders at 7:00 p.m. Alexander will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
On Tuesday, Alexander sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Vinton County.
Alexander was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 17-25, 25-10, 15-6.
Ava Mccall and Kaylee Johnson were among the main playmakers for Alexander as the former had 19 digs and the latter had 13 digs. Mccall is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
Alexander was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last five contests.
Meanwhile, Meigs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Wellston by a score of 3-2.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Meigs sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-15, 18-25, 15-6.
Alexander's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Meigs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
