Soccer Game Preview: Rowlett vs. Smithson Valley

The Rowlett Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Smithson Valley Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Rowlett is leaving town to face Smithson Valley after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Eagles came up short against Mesquite back in December of 2025, falling 6-0. The loss continues a trend for Rowlett in their meetings with Mesquite: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smithson Valley). Everything went their way against Lufkin on Saturday as they made off with a 4-1 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Rowlett beat Smithson Valley 2-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
