Softball Recap: Moriarty Comes Up Short

If Moriarty was feeling good fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Taos on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pintos came up short against the Tigers on Saturday, falling 16-5. The Pintos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

Peyton Rutz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Another player making a difference was Angelita Tapia, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Moriarty has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season. As for Taos, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.

Coming up, Moriarty will host Pojoaque Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Elks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.27 runs per game on average), something the Pintos will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Taos, they will head out on the road to face off against Los Alamos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Hilltoppers have now posted at least ten runs in their last nine contests.
