Baseball Recap: Oak Grove Classical Academy Has No Trouble Against Laguna Acoma

It was a Battle of the Birds when Oak Grove Classical Academy challenged Laguna Acoma on Thursday. The Owls were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Hawks. Considering the Owls have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ben Fernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Oak Grove Classical Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Fernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brody Prochnow and Grayson Grebe did most of the damage at the plate: Prochnow went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Grebe got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Grebe has become a key player for Oak Grove Classical Academy: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Levi Schneider also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Oak Grove Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 9-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Laguna Acoma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.

As of now, neither Oak Grove Classical Academy nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
